Chris brings over 20 years of experience working with multi-generational families to advise them on their wealth and what matters most to them. He is also responsible for investment strategy at Journey Beyond Wealth (JBW). Less formally, he embraces the role of Chief Improvement Officer where he focuses on strategy, systems, and how to continuously improve the way JBW serves families.
Chris is a devoted husband and father of 5 children. He also serves on the Development Committee for the Catholic Foundation of North Georgia, is an active member of Regnum Christi, and sings for his church’s choir.
In my childhood, I learned a lot about stewardship from my parents. They talked to me about the financial markets and were always good savers. As a result, I developed a healthy relationship with the markets and investing. Later on when I met my wife, we dug into our faith and uncovered what really matters. I learned to surrender my own judgement and world views. I would go on to build a successful career, but I felt so empty inside and almost left the industry because of it. I felt like I wasn’t making a difference and even considered becoming a teacher, social worker, or missionary doing something where I can make a real difference and leave a positive impact in the world.
Something in me had me give the industry one more shot. So, I joined a new firm and things got better—until they didn’t anymore. The great thing is that this is where I met my business partner Andy. He left our prior firm and I thought about joining him, but I struggled with the idea of leaving behind financial security. That’s when I realized this is more of a calling for me and it’s not about the money. I needed to surrender to that calling. This is why for JBW, it’s all about going BEYOND…and helping our families build a legacy beyond wealth.

How firms view their clients as "numbers". Some firms refer to their client as "A, B, or C" clients while others reference the portfolio size (a "$5 million client" as an example). I want the industry to stop putting dollar signs above clients' heads. A client is a "who" not a "what". Advisors should be here to serve people, and our industry (and clients) will thrive once we embrace life-centered planning over asset-centered planning.
I value faith, integrity, family, and service.
I enjoy spending time with my kids, dating my wife, farming, woodworking, hiking, learning new things, and singing in my church choir.
Mountains - I enjoy the serenity and fresh mountain air.
Definitely early riser. I have 5 kids and a barnful of animals... I have to be!
When a client tearfully looks you in the eyes and thanks you for all you do. It doesn't get much better than that.
Our family does a Mexican feast every Sunday after church. It's fun and delicious, and my wife and I wash it down with margaritas!
My faith (from my parents). It drives my values and is a source of true joy and peace in my life.
