Director of Client Delight

For me, the pull to financial planning came from learning the material and emotional impact that being intentional with money can have on individuals and families.

When I was in high school, I was selected to be a teen writer for a newspaper in my area. The first column I ever wrote was one encouraging teens to begin saving to build a nest egg for the future. So I guess you can say I've spent quite a while trying to get the word out about financial planning!

When I found financial planning, it felt like the perfect tangible way to help real families. Families are way too busy with their own lives to read tax code, follow ever-changing estate legislation, and stay up to date on the latest and greatest retirement plans. I figured if I could learn some of those head-scratching strategies myself and then explain them simply, I could help ease the financial stress and headaches of those around me. And the best part is, that is exactly what has happened! I love knowing that I’m on a team that is helping to bring more family harmony and hope for the future to the families we serve.

My previous experience includes advising over 100 clients while working as a financial advisor at Vanguard. I have also volunteered as a financial coach for a Money Management Resource Center. I enjoy both working with clients and supporting firm operations and advisors in this field. I am currently working on obtaining both my Certified Financial Planner® designation along with my Accredited Financial Counseling designation. I am truly grateful for this opportunity to work at JBW and look forward to continuing to help clients find clarity, get financially organized, and live intentionally.

  • Favorite Quote

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” I’ve always thought this quote came from Ghandi, but the internet is currently arguing over who actually said it. Nonetheless, it’s still a great quote to live by.

  • Hobbies on your Bucket List

Writing and illustrating children’s books, learning to make stained glass art, developing film photographs, calligraphy, and inventing something.

  • Early riser or night owl?

Night owl! Though I am married to an early riser who is trying to help me change my ways.

  • What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I got to be a radio DJ for a while during my time at college. It was a blast!

  • What is the most inspiring part of your job?

The emotional reaction I get to watch right after a client has a “light-bulb” moment. First comes the light bulb where the client makes the mental connections and understands what’s being shared, and then comes the best part… a newfound peace and confidence that follows. Seeing clients grow in confidence and experience greater feelings of peace and hope for their future is such a gratifying part of being in this field.

  • What are the values that drive you?

Creativity, kindness, peace, gratitude, and faith.

  • If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I highly prize variety in my meals, so this is a tough one for me. Probably grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and a delicious green salad.

  • The most important thing you learned before high school was…

My parents helped me to understand from a young age that it doesn’t matter whether someone is holding a mop or wearing a crown, everyone deserves to be respected and treated with kindness. Eyes to see beyond someone’s circumstances has allowed me to befriend many incredible people throughout my life that at first glance I may not have reached out to.

  • Favorite Books/Podcasts

A couple of my favorite books are Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear and The Heavenly Village. My favorite podcasts are Carl Richards’ Behavior Gap Radio and Miranda Anderson’s Live Free Creative podcast.
